Orient Europharma Co. Ltd. (OE) was founded in 1982 based on the core values of integrity, solidarity, and creativity. With an integrated network of strategic partners and sales channels, OE provides innovative pharmaceuticals and health care products aimed at enhancing the quality of medical treatment in Asia. The company employs over 600 staff members in offices and subsidiaries in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, the Philippines, and mainland China. OE is an international company that offers a diverse range of pharmaceutical, nutritional health, dermo-cosmetic, and consumer health care products. In November 2003, the company listed on Taiwan’s OTC market (Taiwan OTC: 4120).
OE’s pharmaceutical portfolio comprises mostly prescription drugs for the treatment of chronic diseases. Key products include drugs for the treatment of hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, andropausal and post-menopausal symptoms, asthma, joint-related ailments, allergies, ophthalmologic disorders, as well as central nervous system (CNS) agents. OE is the exclusive distributor of the Karihome infant health care product series. The company was also the first to obtain approval from Taiwan’s Department of Health for the injectable hyaluronic acid product Restylane. In addition, OE distributes KariMed® adult dietary supplements.
Following the opening of OE’s Taoyuan cGMP-certified plant, in 2008 OE established its subsidiary Orient Pharma Co. Ltd. in the Central Taiwan Science Park located in Yunlin County with an initial investment of NT$800 million. The plant is designed to conform to the standards set forth by the European PIC/S (Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme), the U.S. FDA’s cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), as well as certification bodies in Japan. It is slated for completion in 2010.
OE continues to form strategic alliances with international partners and actively searches for business opportunities worldwide in order to reassert its position in the global pharmaceutical industry. OE also endeavors to obtain exclusive distribution rights and conducts transnational clinical trials for innovative products with market potential in Taiwan and Asia.
