Healthcare Supplements

In view of Taiwan’s aging society and increasing importance placed on nutritional products, OEP set up a consumer health care division in 2006. The division is committed to promote preventative and palliative nutritional supplements and provides a wide variety of high quality, safe, and trustworthy products that aim to fulfill every consumer’s health needs.

The division currently offers four brands:

• KariMed^®:dietary compound supplements
  Dietary supplements can adjust physiological functions as well as help in health maintenance and disease prevention.
  
• Vitaglow:Comprehensive nutritional food supplements for adults
  Adult nutritional supplements, including milk powder, cereal grain powder (non-lactose), and series products for enhancing and balance health in daily life.
  
• SDC:Expert of disinfectant product with non-toxic effect
  stability
  Traditional silver-based disinfectants have very short shelf lives - from hours to days. SDC is a stabilized silver ion complex with a shelf life of several years. The unique bond of the silver ion in SDC allows the silver ion to remain in solution while at the same time making it more bio-available for antimicrobial action.
  
  mode of action
  SDC kills microorganisms by two modes of action: 1) the silver ion deactivates structural and metabolic membrane proteins leading to microbial death; 2) the microbes view SDC as a food source, allowing the silver ion to enter the microbe. Once inside the organism, the silver ion denatures the DNA, which halts the microbe's ability to replicate and leads to its death. This dual action makes SDC highly and quickly effective against a broad spectrum of microbes.
  
  non toxic
  SDC is non-toxic, non-caustic, colorless, odorless, tasteless and does not produce toxic fumes. While SDC is highly toxic to bacteria, fungus and virus it is non-toxic to humans and animals. Based on the EPA toxicity categorization of antimicrobial products that ranges from Category I (high toxicity) down to Category IV, at use dilutions, SDC is rated in the lowest toxicity category, IV, while traditional disinfectants fall into Categories I and II.
  
• Buccotherm:spring water for oral health of the entire family
  A French spring water that has been used for over 100 years. In 1847, the thermal waters of Castéra-Verduzan were the first to be acknowledged for their effectiveness in preventing oral diseases. Castéra-Verduzan thermal spa has been approved since 1983 by the French health ministry for periodontal diseases.
  

In addition to steadily and effectively diversifying its product lines, the division plans to develop its own high quality preventative health care products in order to increase market share and contribute to OEP’s overall profit, as well as enhance brand recognition.
