The business development division was established in 1996 to introduce innovative and diversified products from renowned companies worldwide and to expand Orient Europharma’s overseas markets.
Business Development Division
The division actively searches for opportunities to obtain exclusive rights in Taiwan of internationally renowned products. Exclusive agreements that the division has obtained for Taiwan and Southeast Asia since 2009 include:
- An exclusive agreement with Italian pharmaceutical company Chiesi Farmaceutici to market Foster asthma medicine in Taiwan, Malaysia and the Philippines. The license of Foster was approved in Taiwan in 2009, and the National Health Insurance reimbursement price was obtained in 2010; as well as the license was approved in Malaysia in 2011.
- An agreement with Japanese pharmaceutical company NanoCarrier Co. Ltd. for the exclusive marketing rights in Asia (excluding Japan and China), Australia and New Zeland of Nanoplatin™, a new treatment for pancreatic cancer. Currently a Phase II clinical study is ongoing in Taiwan.
- Exclusive marketing rights in Taiwan from Japanese Senju Pharmaceutical Co. for non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory Bronuck ophthalmic solution, as well as Vido and Mytear over-the-counter ophthalmic solution product series. The license of Bronuck was approved in Malaysia in 2010.
- Exclusive marketing rights in Asia (excluding Japan and China), Australia and New Zeland from U.S. biotech company Cel-Sci Corporation for Multikine, a product under development for the treatment of head and neck cancers. Currently a Global Phase III clinical study is ongoing in Taiwan.
- A license agreement with Korea-based Handok Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd. for the exclusive distribution of Loramyc mucoadhesive buccal tablets in Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
- An agreement with U.S. pharmaceutical company Medinox to develop and market new anti-hypotensive drug NOX-100 in Taiwan, China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. Currently a Phase II clinical study is ongoing in Taiwan.
- A cooperation agreement with U.S. biopharmaceutical company AndroScience Corporation and exclusive rights to market ASC-J9 acne topical agent in Taiwan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. Currently a Phase II clinical study is ongoing in Taiwan.
- Exclusive marketing right in Southeast Asia from Belgium company UCB of “Cimzia” for rheumatoid arthritis; as well as “Vimpat” for Epilepsy and “Neupro” for idiopathic Parkinson's disease in Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Neupro was launched in Taiwan in 2011.
